Harry is University Professor Emeritus, former Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School, and former President of York University. From 2006-2008, he chaired the Ontario Expert Commission on Pensions. He has advised some of the world’s leading pension plans on issues of governance and public policy. Harry has been an arbitrator and mediator in labour disputes and has chaired reviews of Canada’s labour standards legislation and the funding of Ontario’s workplace safety and insurance system. He has been awarded ten honorary doctorates and was made a fellow of British Academy. In recognition of his contributions to labour issues, Harry was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was awarded the International Labour Organization’s Decent Work Research Prize.
