To expand access to retirement security and contribute to a world where all people, regardless of how much they earn or how they work, have access to a high-quality workplace retirement plan.

We partner with unions, associations, sectors, groups of employers, and other communities to design, build, and manage high-quality collective retirement plans for workers without access to traditional pensions.

Common Wealth was founded in 2015 with the goal of expanding access to retirement security. Co-founders Alex Mazer and Jonathan Weisstub wanted to use their cross-sector backgrounds of law, business, and government service to use finance to serve the public good. Building on its work with some of the world’s pension institutions, Common Wealth created the first retirement plan for lower- and moderate-income Canadians, which it launched in 2017 in partnership with the SEIU. The firm is also developing a national collective retirement plan for Canada's not-for-profit sector. It has advised pension funds with collective assets under management of over $800 billion. Since its founding, Common Wealth has built a team of experienced pension professionals and partnered with governments, think tanks, and international financial institutions to improve retirement systems around the world.
